PA OUTDOOR WRITERS:
Contact your local outdoor writer telling them about your camp experience and how it benefits PA youth, and ask them if they would be interested in interviewing you for an article.

To get a writer interested in your story, send him or her a press release as your initial contact, then follow-up with a phone call or email a week or so later. Here are two examples of a press release that you can use as a model:

Sample press releases

NOTE: Bear in mind that in these releases the "sell" is the program itself. For an article/release you write the "sell" is your involvement and experience in the program. It should be written in the first person and be more personal than the above examples.

PA Outdoor Writers Association (POWA)-- Send Gail Farmer your press release and she will forward it to POWA members in your region/County.

Our radio media instructor from camp, Gary Abdulah, has also offered internship opportunities at the PSU Dept. of Information and Communication Technologies at the College of Agriculture to WLA youth interested in natural science writing. If you are interested, contact him via email. This opportunity would earn you service points and media points for anything published.
